Engineered Hardwood
Engineered hardwood flooring suits today’s fashion trend for wider width flooring. More dimensionally stable than solid hardwood, this flooring is constructed with wood layers. The top layer (the “wood veneer”) is 100% natural hardwood, available in a variety of species. BreezeWood Hardwood Floorings’ engineered flooring boasts an above average thickness wear layer of 5mm of solid Ontario hardwood veneer and is certified by the National Wood Flooring Association’s (NWFA) Engineered Wood Flooring Refinishable Program. This means that our engineered hardwood flooring can be refinished twice in its lifetime, making it a smart and sustainable investment for your home.
The bottom layer (“the pinecore”) is a blockboard core system, constructed of North American Pine. The engineered construction creates a floor that is less likely to expand and contract when exposed to shifts in moisture, humidity and temperature. This makes engineered hardwood floors a great option in rooms that are subject to moisture (like basements) or over concrete.
In comparison, solid hardwood flooring is made from 100% hardwood with each board being a single solid piece of wood. Solid hardwood flooring is a timeless classic valued for its beauty, authenticity and durability and is a great option when used in the correct application.

Prefinished Hardwood Flooring
There are many flooring options to choose from today. Why does choosing hardwood flooring make such great sense? Hardwood flooring is prized for its natural beauty and durability. A stylish home improvement you can enjoy today, prefinished hardwood flooring improves with age and is a good option for the environment as well as your family’s health and comfort.
Why Choose BreezeWood Prefinished Flooring?
BreezeWood Floors offers both solid hardwood flooring and engineered hardwood flooring. Solid hardwood is valued for its timeless beauty, while engineered hardwood provides improved stability for wider planks and is better suited for installations below grade (basements). Both of these affordable and high quality prefinished hardwood flooring options are available in a wide selection of grades, stains, widths and finishes.
BreezeWood Floors is proudly Canadian! Entirely made in Southwestern Ontario using sustainably harvested local hardwoods, this 3rd generation family-owned business has been operating since 1959. We work directly with consumers and designers alike, allowing us to be extremely responsive to new interests and emerging trends. Customers love our large showrooms featuring oversized samples from a wide variety of popular Canadian grown hardwood species (i.e., ash, cherry, hard maple, hickory, red maple, red oak, white oak, walnut) that inspire a truer representation of our selections.
Committed to Sustainable Forestry
BreezeWood Floors is dedicated to providing a sustainable future and a healthy living product for your home. We are FSC certified and LEED accredited. BreezeWood sources our hardwoods from local private woodlot owners in Ontario and we are committed to ethical forestry practices. All hardwoods used to make BreezeWood flooring are harvested from within 100 km of the Tillsonburg, Ontario sawmill and then cut, milled and finished on-site, making for an extremely low carbon footprint. All of our wood stains, topcoats and sealers on our prefinished flooring are 100% VOC and formaldehyde free.
Prefinished Hardwood Longevity & Durability
Trust the hardwood experts and choose Canadian-grown, Ontario-made hardwood floors for your home. Located beside the main Townsend Lumber (our sister-company sawmill) Tillsonburg sawmill is BreezeWood Floors’ state-of-the art manufacturing facility which includes a fully automated finishing line to accommodate our extensive portfolio of selections and ongoing demand for modern colors and textures. Our finish uses state-of-the-art nanotechnology to deliver industry-leading durability that outlasts scuffs and spills and offers phenomenal finish clarity that enhances the natural beauty of the wood. The noticeable difference of an ultraviolet-dried finish sets our products apart from the competition where finishes contain larger particles that tend to cloud or mask the natural beauty of the wood. In addition, all of our prefinished hardwood flooring finishes are designed in Canada to our quality and environmental standards.
I have small children and pets. Are hardwood floors right for me?
Yes they could be! How hardwood floors will fair with energetic, young children and pets can be of concern to hardwood floor shoppers. Consider that some hardwood floors options are more suitable for homes with pets and young children. Whether prefinished solid wood flooring or engineered hardwood, choose a species with a high Janka hardness rating, a measure which ranks the relative hardness of each wood species. The higher the ranking, the harder the wood species. No hardwood floor is bullet proof though! Over time, any flooring subjected to heavy or sharp objects, etc. will eventually scratch and indent the surface. Your flooring colour and finish factor into how much surface wear you notice when damage occurs. Surface wear may be less evident on woods with open or pronounced grains (like ash and oak) and on low sheen finishes (matte and ultra-matte). Surface wear, dust and dirt may be more accentuated on closed grain woods (hard maple), high sheen finishes (semi-gloss) and very dark hardwood finishes.
Yes, you can have hardwood floors when you have pets! Consider this further advice:
- Keep your pet’s nails trim and blunt or use nail caps
- Use area rugs and mats in areas of concern
- Avoid allowing water to sit around pets bowls. Clean water off prefinished flooring immediately or use pet trays
